During the four-hour meeting on Sunday, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Ali Bagheri Kani welcomed India’s call for the Global South to work towards a more inclusive world order.
The Indian delegation, led by Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra, and Iranian officials led by Baqeri, exchanged views on a host of political, economic, consular, regional, and international developments.
Baqeri stressed the need for appropriate mechanisms to be put in place to ensure cooperation between Iran and India is both “strategic and sustainable.”
Kwatra, for his part, said Iran held a significant position in India’s foreign policy, and expressed his country’s political will to further develop bilateral relations with the Islamic Republic.
He also mentioned India's interest in cooperating with Iran within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and BRICS group of emerging economies.
